1. EARN MONEY WITH A MINI JOB

FERIALJOB

As soon as you are 15 years old and have completed compulsory schooling, you can apply for a holiday job. You always earn at least according to the collective agreement or the local minimum wage. The AMS has summarized here what you should look out for in job offers so that your vacation job doesn't turn out to be a flop.

Here you will find various pages offering numerous holiday jobs:

JOB IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Neighbors often need help with watering flowers, babysitting, walking the dog or many other things. Perhaps you can find someone who would like to use your services and can pay you in advance.

TUTORING

Do you find it easy to teach others? Then tutoring is a good way to earn money for your driver's license. Here, too, you may be able to make an agreement for regular tutoring that is paid for in advance.

2. GET MONEY THROUGH THE SALE OF ITEMS

Do you have collateral that you no longer need? Then you may be able to turn them into cash by turning them into money for your driver's license. You have these options:

  • Flea market: A flea market is a good idea if you want to sell lots of items of lower value - such as toys, clothes or crockery. In this case, the bulk makes the money. You can find a calendar for flea markets here - under the contact details you can find out the corresponding space fee and estimate whether it could be worthwhile for you.

  • Sales platform: You can also sell items of lower value as well as higher value items on platforms such as willhaben or ebay. Don't forget to take shipping and handling costs into account.

  • Selling to a dealer: You can also sell more valuable items such as coins, jewelry, electronic devices, e-scooters or bicycles directly to the right dealer. You don't have to search long for a buyer, as companies such as Moneystation or Rebuy will usually tell you quickly whether they want to buy your item and how much money you can get for it.

3. BORROW MONEY WITH OR WITHOUT A BANK

BORROW MONEY PRIVATELY

If your parents are willing to do this, you could ask for an advance payment of pocket money and waive part of it in the following months. You could also ask relatives or good friends for a personal loan. If you offer a favorable interest rate, this is a win-win situation for all sides.

TAKE OUT A BANK LOAN OR INCREASE YOUR OVERDRAFT FACILITY

If you are already 18 and have regular cash inflows into your account, you have the opportunity to take out a small loan from your bank or have your overdraft facility set up. Ask your bank exactly what requirements you have to meet and whether this option is available.

PAWNING OBJECTS (PAWN LOAN)

If you want to take out a pawn loan where an item of collateral is sufficient as security, a pawnshop is the right place for you. There you can deposit items such as coins, games consoles, tablets, bicycles and much more and borrow money in return. The prerequisite for this is that you are already 18 years old.

Tip: You can recognize reputable pawn shops such as CASHY by the seal of approval of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
